Good to have a Spitfire to celebrate RAF100 in Kendal.

That was the request from Flt Lt Tim Corry CO of 1127 (Kendal) Squadron Royal Air Force Air Cadets to Morecambe and Lancaster RAFA Branch.

In RAF100 year Spitfires are in great demand but after an extensive search a full-sized replica was sourced in Lowestoft, Suffolk. With financial assistance from Kendal Business Improvement District, the request has been fulfilled for the Spitfire to be displayed in Kendal the weekend of 18th& 19thAugust. To enhance the RAF100 theme, Kendal in Bloom will plant flower beds in red, white and blue flowering plants and RAF100 banners will be flying from lamp posts on Kendal’s main street. On Sunday 19ththere will be an RAF100 parade with an anticipated 200 RAF Air Cadets and RAFA members parading. Plus an invitation will be issued via the local newspaper, Westmorland Gazette for non-RAFA member veterans to join the parade. Any RAFA members who would like to join the parade should in the first instance contact Brian Harrison, emailbrian@bandmharrison.co.uk
